Pharmacies
In Greece, pharmacies only sell medicines and supplies related to health and the body. They offer the usual items such as over-the-counter medications, baby supplies, shampoo and soap, as well as prescription drugs. Pharmacies generally have a scale available for patrons who want to weigh themselves.
Some pharmacies stay open all night. When there is a red cross lit on the sign outside, it means the store is open. If the hour is late, chances are the door will be locked but the pharmacist will be inside. A customer can ring the bell, and an employee will come from the back to open up. There is a special phone number to call to find the nearest 24-hour pharmacy.
